Matco opens Canadian
subsidiary By

ST. LAURENT, Quebec-CCTV manufacturer Matco
Inc. has opened a subsidiary here, Matco Canada, as part of its
strategy to strengthen its presence in the security industry through
new locations.
The Canadian location marks the first remote
office for Matco outside of its headquarters in Schaumburg, Ill. By
adding a location near Montreal, company officials expect to broaden
its reach in Canada and make it easier for customers to do business
with the company.
"The biggest benefit right now is the fact
that customers don't have to deal with customs," said Roy Dewey,
general manager of Matco Canada.
Matco, which markets its
products under the EverSecure name, was already serving some
customers in the Canadian market, said Richard Bogden, director of
marketing for Matco Inc. But company officials saw an opportunity to
expand into a market it had not yet fully tapped into.
"We
had a number of customers in Canada and we felt the Canadian
customers like dealing with local personnel," said Bogden. "And with
the currency exchange, we thought having an office there would serve
our Canadian customers better."
Besides promoting Matco's
products, the Canadian location also provides technical support. As
a result of adding Matco Canada, company officials expect sales to
increase by at least 18 percent from its current sales levels of
$3.4 million.
"We found that a lot of the customers coming to
the Canadian location are customers that have traditionally been
buying from other competitors," said Bogden.
Matco is also
eyeing the Puerto Rican market for a new sales office and locations
in Europe. |
